Hello

My journey started as a volunteer firefighter in one of the busiest fire stations in New Zealand, after three years as a volunteer I changed tack and joined the New Zealand Police and continued to serve my community for another ten years. Leaving the Police as a Senior Detective my investigative journey continued as a Private Investigator and Security Consultant for a further eight years before an opportunity presented itself to head overseas where I became a Private Military Contractor, providing armed security to commercial shipping in the Middle East and Africa, off the coast of Somalia, combatting piracy for the Oil & Gas industry.

When disaster struck at the Pike River Mine in 2010 with the death of 29 miners, in the five years following that tragic event my attention turned to Health & Safety and the new legislation that New Zealand business would have to embrace and to turn the tide of fatalities and serious harm events in the workplace. ​First as a Consultant working with businesses, both big and small, to upskill and implement the new legislative requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2016, I then pivoted into several high-risk industry corporates as a senior Health & Safety Manager including looking after the safety of several geothermal power stations, heavy transport freight and logistics, aged healthcare, and finally as General Manager of Health, Safety, and Risk for New Zealand's largest passenger ferry company.

Now, with Phoenix Consulting Services it is time to solidify the past three decades of work and to share that knowledge gained across New Zealand and the world, with the goal of keeping businesses compliant and workers safe...and so the work continues.
